THE SANTA FE TRAIL: DALLAS' NATURE TO CULTURE LINK The Santa Fe Trail connects Dallas' most significant natural resource, White Rock Lake to historic Deep Ellum and Fair Park. Traversing through East Dallas' cultural and natural landmarks, quiet pathway touches some of Dallas' most architecturally significant neighborhoods, thriving employment centers, exciting entertainment districts, and beautiful recreational destinations. The City of Dallas and TXDOT have provided a great 12 foot concrete path for us… but it is up to us, the users of the trail and the neighbors who live near the trail, to make it the community asset we wish it to be. This linear Park, in its finished, beautiful state will serve commuters, families, shoppers, athletes, artists, and social groups of all kinds. The path of the Santa Fe Trail takes it through four distinct precincts. We envision a unique character and approach to each precinct within an overall esthetic and organizational framework. The Friends of the Santa Fe Trail is now soliciting grants and donations to fund a Master Plan for the trail. As part of this plan folks from all along the trail will have an opportunity to give their thoughts on what the plan should look like. |
